FOURTH GRADE OVERVIEW
 
School Day
 
Full Day                        8:20 – 3:00
Morning Recess         15 minutes
Lunch/Recess            30 minutes + 15 minutes

SPIRITUAL LIFE
 
Bible: Emphasis is place on daily Christian walk, Christian character traits, memorization of God’s Word and putting faith into action through missions. Weekly Bible memory verses given as oral grade.
 
Chapel: Emphasis is on student’s involvement in worshiping God through music, participation, and exposure to practical Christian beliefs. 
 
ACADEMIC LIFE
 
Reading/Language Arts: Emphasis is on development of reading skills for information and entertainment, skill development (written and oral) in listening, thinking, speaking, writing and reading. The student will be introduced to writing book reports, research reports and creative writing. All eight parts of speech will be introduced with emphasis on sentence structure and diagramming. 
 
Mathematics: Emphasis is on mastery multiplication and division facts, problem solving, adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions, divisibility rules and beginning geometry. 
 
Social Studies: Emphasis on U.S. History from the exploration by Columbus to the Nuclear Age. The student will study world geography, create a state history book, and memorize U.S. Presidents.
 
Science: Emphasis on earth and physical science and how they relate to God’s World 
 
Physical Education: Emphasis is on enjoyment of recreation developing a desirable self-concept through success and applying fairness and cooperation in group situations. 
 
Computers: Emphasis is on beginning key-boarding, writing, and math skills.
 
Music: Participation in Spring and Christmas concerts.
 
Library: Emphasis is on selection and reading good books and library skills for locating and checking out reading materials. 
 
Art: Emphasis is on observing and experiencing art in many forms.
