SPIRITUAL LIFE
Bible: Students will listen to and discuss stories of individual Bible characters. They will study Christian character traits and discuss how each can be related to their daily lives. They will study and memorize significant Bible Passages.
Chapel: Emphasis is on student’s involvement in a weekly worship environment with exposure to practical Christian beliefs and missionary stories.
ACADEMIC LIFE
Reading/Language Arts: Student will learn visual and auditory identification of all English phonograms. They will learn to use phonetic principles to correctly read and spell through the use of charts, games, dictation, and creative writing experiences. Students will read daily, both orally and silently, to increase their fluency, confidence, and enjoyment of reading.
Mathematics: Students will review addition and subtraction facts. They will learn multiple column addition and subtraction with regrouping. They will review and learn new concepts in time, temperature, money, and fractions. They will be introduced to multiplication and division.
Social Studies: Students will study early American history emphasizing our Christian heritage, experiences of the pilgrims, and individual historical figures. They will learn basic principles of the voting system.
Science: Emphasizing God as the creator of all scientific principles, students will observe and record seasonal changes, discuss simple anatomy, and participate in demonstrations of physical and chemical properties. The students will view the animal world through God’s eyes and enjoy various hands-on science units.
Library: Emphasis is on selecting and reading good books and library skills for locating and checking out reading materials.
Physical Education: Emphasis is on age-appropriate physical development and fitness, competence in useful physical skill, enjoyment of recreation, developing a desirable self-concept through success and applying fairness and cooperation in group situations.
Computers: Emphasis is on becoming familiar with location of letters and numbers on keyboard, commands keys, and being able to respond to computer generated questions. Educational games related to the curriculum are worked into the class schedule.
Art: Students will participate in art emphasizing creativity and enjoyment in expression.
